Guided hikes run by Bear Smart Durango will take place on Sept. 19, 23, 26 and 30 in Perins Peak State Wildlife Area. The hike is moderate and primarily off-trail with minimal elevation gain.
Attendees are asked to have a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Habitat Stamp, which can be purchased at the CPW Fish Hatchery office, 151 E. 16th St., or by phone a (800) 244-5613.
These hikes will teach how bears live in the wild, how to safely recreate in bear country, and what can be done to reduce human and bear conflict.
