Catch the long-awaited “Bears of Durango” documentary at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Durango Stadium 9, 900 Translux Drive, as part of the Durango Independent Film Festival.
This feature-length film provides an inside look at the bears of the Animas Valley.
Throughout a six-year wildlife study, filmmakers followed researchers into bear dens to document summer trapping efforts and winter den visits with bear cubs. About 15 percent of the film features home-video footage from the Durango community.
Heather Johnson, lead wildlife researcher, will present the film.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased 15 minutes before the show at the screening venue.
