I have known and worked with John Beebe for a number of years through our property owners association. I have been impressed by his integrity, organizational and people skills and general ability to get things done by encouraging cooperation. The LPEA board is in dire need of those talents and skills. The current lack of cooperation and self-serving bias on the part of some board members is simply not working in favor of the membership.
Words are cheap, so perhaps an example of one of John’s efforts is appropriate: In 2014, as a member of the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District board, John served as the catalyst in bringing full electric power to the emergency services radio repeater on Grassy Mountain above Vallecito Lake. The site was powered by solar panels and produced limited and unreliable radio transmission, endangering emergency responders in eastern La Plata County. By bringing together LPEA, UPRFPD, La Plata County staff, Bayfield marshal, USFS, emergency management, county sheriff, central dispatch and state officials, John succeeded in getting full electrical power to the site. The result: more reliable emergency radio communications for all agencies involved.
I believe this is the type of leadership we need on the LPEA board. Please join me in voting for John Beebe for District 4 on the LPEA board.
