Bennet should stay focused and fight in D.C.

Sen. Michael Bennet has announced he’s ready to be our next state executive, and is trying to run for governor while working full time in a very busy, very difficult Congress.

For progressive, empathetic humans, this is a terrible time to be in D.C., so I feel for him. But I think not just of Congressional members, but frankly, of the three Supreme Court justices who are just trying keep a hold of the U.S. Constitution. They must be wondering what absolute hell they’ve signed up for under Roberts and Alito, but they’re all sticking it out, courageously and vociferously.

Working as our senior senator – with 18 years of experience in the ways and personalities of Washington – is what Bennet signed up for just two years ago. I expect Bennet to stick there and fight for us all, loudly and effectively, as he has shown he can do.

We are in an absolutely critical time for our republic; losing his experienced voice in D.C. would be one more nail in our nation’s democracy. I hope you’ll join me in asking Michael Bennet to stay focused in D.C., not flirt with running for a different office for which he is far less prepared.
