Mixed media artist Kathleen Berner is the latest to join the Artisans of Mancos gallery.
Her reception will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Artisans of Mancos, 101 Grand Ave. in Mancos.
Berner will discuss her artwork, including her photography mixed-media pieces, which she calls her Young Ladies, that are part of the overall “Goddess Project” she has been working on for a decade.
Berner creates and designs many different works of art, including painted rocks, mandalas, dolls, masks and other items, according to a press release from Artisans of Mancos.
Berner has been creating and working in mixed media since she was a child. She would create sock puppets and doll clothes from the bits and pieces of fabric and laces her mom would bring home from her work as a dressmaker.
Berner also creates dresses and other garments from recycled materials, and is a fiber artist, mask maker, doll creater, painter and designer – her talents cover a wide variety of subjects. She is also a performance artist, working in dance and puppetry.
Berner moved to the Four Corners in 2015 and loves the local scenery. She has taken more than 3,000 photographs that she uses to create her work.
