Best bets for the weekend

This weekend in Durango will feature Colorado Public Lands Day on Saturday and Taste of Durango on Sunday.

Colorado Public Lands Day, an official celebration of the public lands available to Coloradans and tourists from around the world, will be held for the first time Saturday. A number of events are scheduled in Southwest Colorado, including a hike up Elbert Creek Trail near Needles Country Square and gatherings at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir, the welcome center in Cortez and the Powerhouse Science Center in Durango. A complete list of events can be found at copubliclandsday.com.

Taste of Durango marks the annual summer-kickoff party.
