Best bets for the weekend

This weekend in Durango, teams of men with grills will be pitted against each other during the Men Who Grill event Saturday, and volunteers from six local churches will be out and about performing service projects Saturday and Sunday for Love-Out-Loud.

Men Who Grill, a fundraiser for the Women’s Resource Center, will be held 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Buckley Park, 1200 Main Ave. Food will be judged by a panel, and attendees will vote for their favorite dish. Teams are encouraged to dress in costume and decorate booths to win the prize for best theme. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-12. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free.

For Love-Out-Loud, dozens of volunteers from Christ the King Lutheran Church, Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, First United Methodist Church, The River Church, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango and Durango Friends Meeting (Quakers) will engage in volunteer projects to celebrate faith in the form of cheerful service for the community.
