Best bets for the weekend

Durango’s best bets this weekend will be dressed in costumes, pumpkin themed and autumn spirited on Saturday for the Three Springs Fall Festival, and Sunday will get spooky and haunted during a cemetery ghost walk.

The annual Three Springs festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Three Springs Plaza, 175 Mercado St. The celebration will offer free activities and entertainment, including a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, neighborhood trick-or-treating, sack races, costume parade, live music by Dave Mensch and more.

Food, beverages and items at arts and crafts booths will be available for purchase. People are encouraged to wear costumes for the parade. The “Plaza Play Place,” an area of activities that raises money for La Plata Family Centers Coalition, will be featured. For a donation, people will be able to go to a cotton-candy booth, play a life-sized game of Operation and more.

Ghost Walk Durango, a Halloween cemetery tour, will start at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Durango School District 9-R Administration Building, 201 E. 12th St., and last for about two hours.

The tour, not for the faint of heart, is limited to 30 and open to people 15 and older. Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Participants should dress for cold weather, wear closed-toe shoes and provide their own transportation for the two-mile drive to the cemetery. Cost is $50 per participant, which includes a flashlight and a ghost-walk-themed shirt or umbrella. Rules will be discussed at the beginning of the tour.
