Best bets for this weekend include the Former Mayor’s Ball on Saturday and a full moon hike on Sunday.
The Former Mayor’s Ball, a fundraiser for KSUT Public Radio’s Capital Campaign, will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio.
The 21-and-older event will celebrate former mayors of Durango and feature live music from alt-country band Halden Wofford and The Hi-Beams at 7:30 p.m., a cash bar and beer from Ska Brewing Co.
The dress code will be Durango black-tie attire.
Tickets are $50 and include two drinks and appetizers from Durangourmet.
Proceeds will help KSUT build a new studio.

Durango Nature Studies will offer an April full moon hike from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday north of Durango in Falls Creek.
Those who attend will learn about coyotes and how they’ve managed to thrive in various environments in the area. People are encouraged to howl at the full moon.
To get to the meeting place from Main Avenue, go west on 25th Street to Junction Creek Road and turn right at the fork onto Falls Creek Road (County Road 205). Traveling north, participants will meet at the fifth pullout along Falls Creek Road.
The event is free for DNS members and costs $10 for non-members.
