Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend for the area include the grand opening of Cafe Au Play on Saturday and the early opening of the Durango Flea Market on Sunday.

Cafe Au Play, a kid-and-parent-friendly space, will hold its official grand opening from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave.

The child care facility is located upstairs in Room 201, and the event will showcase the new space, provide tours and thank donors that supplied contributions. Light refreshments will be provided.

Cafe Au Play is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. It offers parents the opportunity to come work or hang out while their kids play. Parents are required to stay on site within the Smiley Building while their children are in the care of staff. A playgroup is also offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Durango Flea Market announced it will open early this season, with its first event of the year Sunday in the parking lot at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

As in past years, the market will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays through mid-November.

Vendors are not required to make reservations to attend the flea market. Vendors will be subject to a $10 fee per parking space, which includes an additional 6 feet behind the vehicle to be used for set up.
