Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend, all on Saturday, will include a painting party at The Art Experience, a Spring Fever Music Series performance in Silverton and a free photography class in Cortez.

A painting party will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Art Experience, 1150 Main Ave., Suite C.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from professional artists and complete an acrylic painting during the workshop.

No experience or skill is required.

Cost is $30 and includes supplies.

The Spring Fever Music Series will continue with a performance from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kendall Mountain Ski Area, 1 Kendall Place, in Silverton.

The spring-anticipation celebration will feature a live performance by country-rock fusion musician Dave Mensch and a beer garden from Silverton’s Golden Block Brewery.

The event is free and open to all.

The Spring Fever Music Series is presented by the town of Silverton and Kendall Mountain Ski Area, and sponsored by Sage Hen Cafe, Venture Snowboards, Grand Imperial Hotel and Silverton Chamber of Commerce.

A free photography class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., in Cortez.

The event is open to those interested in improving their photography. Participants are asked to bring a pen or pencil for note taking.
