Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include the Downtown Durango Balloon Glow, the Durango Nursery’s annual Harvest Fest and live music by the Blue Moon Ramblers and Black Velvet Trio.

The Balloon Glow gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday with the balloon pilots beginning to inflate the hot air balloons. The pilots will give attendees the chance to ride inside the basket, called a “candlestick,” which is just the balloon basket and burner without the balloon.

A portable T-shirt factory will be on hand, and participants can use photos from the event to make a customized shirt. A Humpty Dumpty balloon will be among the glowing balloons.

The glow starts around 6:30 p.m., and the balloons will come down around 7:30 p.m., weather depending.

The Durango Nursery will host its annual Harvest Fest starting at noon Saturday, with lots of activities for kids, including games, hay rides and costume contests for children and dogs. A mini farmers market will be available for cash purchases. Bob’s YR Uncle will entertain with live music.

Lisa Parker’s Puppies will be at the Harvest Fest with dogs for adoption.
