Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include Friday and Saturday’s

Celebrate Bayfield’s Heritage Days with a weekend packed with fun activities.

On Friday, load up your plate with barbecue brisket and see the Bar D Wranglers take the stage with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. at the old Bayfield gym on South Street. The local folk group Agave will also entertain.

Tickets are $20 and are available at the door.

On Saturday, Heritage Days will feature a number of events:

Family 5K Fun Run, 8 a.m., fee is $20 and registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Burritos will be for sale on Mill Street.

Running of the sheep, 9 a.m., on County Road 521. They trail at their own pace, so it may be delayed. Please do not bring dogs to the sheep trailing.

Heritage Days Parade, 9:30 a.m., start time may vary according to sheep time.

Disc dog demo, 10 a.m., at the south end of Joe Stephenson Park featuring hay wagon rides and children’s activities.

Kids field day, 11 a.m., fun events for children at Joe Stephenson Park.

Hay bale carry competition, 1 p.m., at the south end of Joe Stephenson Park.

Fireworks show, at dusk in Joe Stephenson Park.
