Best bets this weekend for the Durango area include a free 5K run on Saturday at Fort Lewis College and a community volunteer fair on Sunday at Durango Elks Lodge.
To commemorate the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, a free and festive 5K run will be held Saturday at FLC, 1000 Rim Drive.
The Pueblo Alliance, a student organization founded by the Native American Center at FLC, will host the event, which follows the fifth annual Pueblo Feast Day held the day before on campus.
The race will start at 10 a.m. from Center of Southwest Studies, and participants will run through campus and finish back at the starting point.
First- and second-place men and women runners will receive awards. All participants will be entered in a drawing, and the winner will be announced at 11:30 a.m.
The event will come to a close at 1 p.m.
Registration is required. To register in advance, visit http://bit.ly/2GLUPP8. Registration will also be available at 9 a.m. the day of the event, at Center of Southwest Studies.
The Pueblo Alliance was created to build student bonds. It is open to all who have interest in the Pueblo culture and history and has the goal to create a familial atmosphere for students adjusting to the unfamiliar world around them.
