Best bets this weekend in Durango include the Gothla Belly Dance Show & Dance Party, Hogs 4 Paws Adoption Event benefiting the La Plata County Humane Society and tunes from Sunsquabi & Late Night Radio.

FRIDAY

Gothla Belly Dance Show & Dance Party, 7:30 p.m., at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave. Mataholla Moon Belly Dance presents the 10th annual Gothla Belly Dance Show & Dance Party. Enjoy a memorable evening as 25 dancers from six troupes entertain with their interpretation of the darker side of belly dance. Get your Goth on! Costumes are encouraged. Stay for the dance party immediately after the show.

Thomas Chacon Concert, 7 p.m. at Pine River Public Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, Bayfield. Local Durango singer-songwriter and fly-fishing guide Thom Chacon will play his soulful Americana and folk tunes. Chacon’s influences include greats such as Kris Kristofferson, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt. The event is free.

SATURDAY

Durango Botanical Society 8th Annual Bulb Sale, 9 a.m., La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. The Durango Botanical Society’s Bulb Sale will start at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Exhibit Hall. Mike Smedley, humor columnist for The Durango Herald and garden aficionado, will give a talk about bulbs before the sale at 9 a.m.

Hogs 4 Paws Adoption Event Benefiting La Plata County Humane Society, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Durango Harley Davidson, 750 South Camino del Rio. The shelter is completely full, and Humane Society will be on-site with some of the dogs that are waiting for their forever home. Donations are also needed. SunSquabi & Late Night Radio, 10 p.m. at Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive. Hailing from Colorado, SunSquabi has been picking up steam after a breakout year in 2016, marked by their debut release on GRiZ’s All Good Records. The band’s 7-track EP “Odyssey” takes listeners through a laid-back electronic, funk-fueled journey. Tickets range from $18 to $21.

Plein Air Artists of Colorado – Exhibition, 9 a.m. at the Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave. Sorrel Sky is hosting the Plein Air Artists of Colorado for their “Destination Durango Paint-Out.” Artists discover inspiration and subject matter in and around historic downtown Durango and the Animas Valley.

Montezuma Community Barn and Contra Dance, 3 p.m. at the Dolores River Campground-Recreation Hall, 18680 Colorado Highway 145 in Dolores. No partner or experience is necessary. Dance to the traditional music of Dolores-based AmeriKeltic while Ron Young from Grand Junction calls out and teaches the steps. Arrive by 3 p.m. for a beginner’s lesson/walk through. Attend on your own or bring friends and family for a great afternoon of fun.
