Best bets this weekend include the Durango Splitboard Demo and the distillery tour that explores Durango’s Christmas past.
Backcountry Experience will host a splitboard demo from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chapman Hill, 500 Florida Road.
A splitboard is a snowboard that separates into two ski-like halves that can be used to climb uphill, allowing outdoor enthusiasts to forgo the traditional ski lift and experience self-propelled adventures.
Backcountry Experience will showcase Weston Snowboards with the Backwoods for men and the Riva for women.
Chapman Hill is reserved for this event. Only splitboard demos will be allowed on the hill.
Hot chocolate will be served. For more information, visit www.bcexp.com.
Get a glimpse into Durango’s holidays of old with a distillery tour that explores Christmas in Durango in the 1880s.
Durango Craft Spirits will host the event, which starts at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 1120 Main Ave., Suite No. 2. The tour will feature a historic talk by the Animas Museum about what Durango was like in the late 1800s.
