Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend in Durango include the Friends of the Durango Public Library book sale, the Hesperus Ski Patrol Ski Swap and plays at Fort Lewis College.

The Friends of the Library will host the annual Big Bag Book Sale on Friday and Saturday at the library, 1900 East Third Ave. Participants purchase a bag for $10 and stuff it with as many books as possible. Additional books are priced at $1 per pound.

On Saturday, the Hesperus Ski Patrol Ski Swap will take place at the La Plata Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. About 20 vendors from Colorado, New Mexico and Utah will have new and used ski and snowboard equipment at sale prices.

The Mainstage Theatre at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive, will stage back-to-back plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday about a middle-schooler, square dancing and heritage. “I’m Native And ...” will play first followed by “Teaching Disco Square Dancing to Our Elders: A Class Presentation.”

FRIDAY
