Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include Saturday’s Touch A Truck event and the Halfway to St. Paddy’s celebration at The Irish Embassy Pub.

Have you ever wondered what the inside of a fire truck looks like, or maybe you have a kid obsessed with police cars?

Starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot across from Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., Durango City Operations, Durango Fire Protection District and the Durango Police Department will offer a fun and interactive event hosted by the library.

Firefighters, police officers and staff members from City Operations will bring a variety of trucks and vehicles for kids to explore.

This event is for children of all ages and is free.

For those of you hankering for a little Celtic music, check out Patrick Crossing Celtic Band at 5:30 p.m. Saturday night as The Irish Embassy observes the halfway to St. Paddy’s mark.

Patrick Crossing was formed in 2007 and plays mostly traditional Irish music with some contemporary songs thrown in for good measure.

There will be a drawing for a trip to Ireland at 7 p.m. Saturday. To be included in the drawing, buy a Guinness at the pub between now and Saturday.
