Best bets for the weekend in and around Durango

Best bets for people in and around Durango this weekend include Colorado Trail Days and the Vallecito Arts and Crafts Fair.

The 35th annual Vallecito Arts and Crafts Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It will take place in the meadow below Vallecito Dam.

The fair will feature more than 45 vendors, half of which are new this year. The event will include a backyard barbecue, kettle corn and the Vallecito Service League bake sale, which will benefit local scholarships. Parking is $3.

Colorado Trail Days will be held Friday through Sunday at Backcountry Experience, 1205 Camino del Rio.

Despite the 416 Fire burning north of Durango, event organizers plan to celebrate the beautiful place that we all live in and love.

This year’s Colorado Trail Days benefits Trails2000, which will be fundamental to the recovery process in the San Juan National Forest.

The event is a three-day celebration of the outdoors, featuring free clinics about backpacking and wilderness skills, gear demonstrations, prizes, live music and more. Giveaways will be included from Osprey Packs, Outdoor Research, Mountain Safety Research and more.
