Wreaths honoring fallen veterans were placed on gravestones at Greenmount Cemetery in 2020 as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. It was the first year the event was held locally. This Saturday, the ceremony returns with the more than 1,000 sponsored gravestones. (Durango Herald file)

Volunteers from Blue Star Mothers, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Heritage Girls and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be at local cemeteries at 10 a.m. Saturday for a Wreaths Across America ceremony and wreath laying.

Wreaths will be placed on military graves at Greenmount, Crestview, Bayfield, and East & West Ignacio cemeteries. This year, 1,008 graves were sponsored.
