City of Durango will host its annual Arbor Day celebration at 10 a.m. Friday at Santa Rita Park.
Attendees can help staff members plant trees at the park. There will be a presentation about the benefits of trees, the Arbor Day Proclamation will be read and a local forester will answer questions.
This event will happen regardless of weather.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031, 1550 Main Ave., will host an Easter Brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
The menu will include cheesy scrambled eggs, eggs to order, cottage-style cubed O’Brien potatoes, fruit bowls, yogurt, spiral ham, Veterans Signature Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, prime rib, green bean almondine, mashed potatoes and brown gravy, corn cobettes, deviled eggs, dinner rolls, coffee, juice and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Donations are appreciated at $15 for adults, $12 for veterans and $10 for children 12 and younger.
