On Saturday, in preparation for Memorial Day, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4031 and sponsors will place flags on veterans’ graves beginning at 9 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery. Volunteers are needed.
The flag placing is one of the many Memorial Day weekend events hosted by VFW Post 4031. On Monday, a ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Iris Park; a ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery; a wreath laying will occur at noon on the Animas River behind Rotary Park; and the VFW will hold an open house at 12:30 p.m.

Durango Cool Jazz will feature musician Tony DeSare this weekend at The Lift at Cascade. There will be two seatings at 5 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost $150, which includes dinner. Dinner includes salad and choice of prime rib, wild mushroom risotto or lemon-crusted salmon.
