Narrow Gauge Day will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Depot at 479 Main Ave. in Durango. The picnic is free and the Galloping Goose trips to Event Park are $30. Two departure times are available, 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. For details or to book trips on the Galloping Goose visit: durangotrain.com.

Narrow Gauge Day celebrates another season of continuous train operations between Durango and Silverton since 1882. The picnic and celebration will have grilled hot dogs, chips, cookies and soda for members of the community. Bar-D Wranglers will be performing on the lawn in front of the depot.

Railroad equipment will be on display including the Galloping Goose and select cars from the Presidential Train. Representatives from Durango Cowboy Gathering, Tracks Across Borders, Four Corners Bee Association, Bayfield Belles and Operation Lifesaver will be on hand to share information about their organizations.
