Chainsaw carving art competition returns to Purgatory Resort

Carve Wars, a three-day chain saw carving competition with auctions and a raffle, returns to Purgatory Resort, 1 Skier Place, beginning Friday.

All three days will have artists carving wood into art pieces that will be put up for auction on Saturday and Sunday. Raffle tickets for a free carving will be handed out on Saturday and a winner will be drawn at 3 p.m. Sunday.

A portion of proceeds from the auctions will go to La Plata County Search and Rescue. The auctions start when the day’s carving ends, which for Saturday is 3 p.m. and for Sunday will be 2 p.m.
