Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include Splash & Dash and Race for Riverhouse.

La Plata Youth Services will host its seventh annual Splash & Dash summer event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.

The event will feature a 5K and a 1K race, live music by LokiMoon, barbecue from Serious Texas Bar-B-Q and games.

Cost range is free to $20. Registration for the 5K and 1K races opens at 8 a.m. The 5K will start at 9 a.m.

Money raised will support the Communities-in-Schools Partnership program and school-based restorative practices.

Riverhouse Children’s Center will host the Race for Riverhouse 5K fundraiser at 10 a.m. Sunday at Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.

The race route will follow the Animas River Trail and end with beer (for adult participants), sno-cones, popcorn and a bouncy house. This is a family-friendly event.

Packet pickup will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Riverhouse Children’s Center parking lot, 742 Florida Road.

Entry fees are $45 for adults and $35 for children. Proceeds support Riverhouse Children’s Center.
