Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include The Next Best Comic of the Four Corners and Cirque de Lycée.

Comedy Showcase Durango will host the Next Best Comic of the Four Corners competition at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Strater Theater, 699 Main Ave.

The Next Best Comic is hailed as the Four Corners’ most hilarious competition show.

This year’s show will be hosted by Wes Stein, founder of Comedy Showcase Durango. Round 1 of the competition kicks off this weekend with a dozen comics taking the stage in front of a panel of guest judges, including Kyle Pogue, David Oakley and last year’s champion, Kate McLachlan. The winner will get a paid spot at the Four Corners Comedy Festival in August.

Keep up with contestants and showtimes on the competition’s broadcast sponsors 99X Durango, DurangoTV and 92.0-FM The Point. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/2Vj3GCo.
