Durango Dance and local artists will present the drive-in Durango’s COVID Nutcracker movie at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Participating artists include Durango Dance and community dancers, including Bif Hilliard, Francesca Bianchi, Wildwood Dance Project, Ballet Folklorico, The Hive, Durango Aerial Arts Circus, Durango Hula Ohana: Ka Pa Hula I Na Mauna and Preston Benson Videography.

The film was made locally, following COVID-19-safe protocols.

Moviegoers must wear a mask when exiting a vehicle and only have members of one household in a vehicle.

Online streaming of the movie will be available Dec. 19.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Cost is $50 per car, and tickets are available at https://bit.ly/3mVlpJO.

The Powerhouse Science Center will host a free virtual event, Navajo Skies, the fourth lecture in the Apollo 14 Speaker Series from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tune into the @powscicenter Facebook livestream to hear from two Indigenous astronomy experts, Nancy Maryboy and David Begay. Maryboy and Begay are co-authors of “Sharing the Skies,” a book about Navajo astronomy and the unique way Navajos view the cosmos and their place in it.

A Q&A session will follow the event.
