Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Durango Autumn Arts Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

Best bets this weekend include the Old Fort Cider release and Durango Autumn Arts Festival.

Southwest Colorado Apple Heritage and the Old Fort Lewis will host a release of their small-batch cider collaboration, Old Fort Lewis Cider, from 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Fenceline Cider in Mancos.

Seventy 100-year-old trees and 100 1-year-old trees make up the apple orchard at the Old Fort at Hesperus. Growing at 7,600 feet in elevation, these old varieties of apples and crab apples are selected for their hardiness. Some are specifically cider varieties.

Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project and the crews from the National Civilian Community Corps were instrumental in revitalizing the orchard.

Pizza will be provided by Sweetwater Gypsies. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/events/243435523645692.
