Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include the San Juan Brewfest and the Best of the Fest Showcase.

The 21st annual San Juan Brewfest will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Buckley Park. More than 100 beers from 50 breweries from throughout the country will be featured, including all five of Durango’s local breweries.

Live music will be provided by Spidercat and Ron Artis II & The Truth throughout the event. Numerous vendors will also be on site offering various food items for sale.

Small lawn chairs, small bags or packs and empty water bottles will be permitted.

The brewfest is presented by Bank of the San Juans and benefits the United Way of Southwest Colorado.

All City Transit, including the Main Avenue Trolley, will be free during the event.

Dogs or pets of any kind are not permitted, with the exception of service dogs.

Tickets are $40 per person and participants must be 21 and older.

The Four Corners Comedy Festival will take place this weekend with multiple shows Friday and Saturday at the Henry Stater Theater and the Best of the Fest Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at The Community Concert Hall.

The festival will feature more than 30 comics from all over the country. Friday’s events will start off with a workshop at 3 p.m., followed by theater shows at 5 and 8 p.m.

Saturday will continue the festivities with a workshop at 1 p.m. and theater shows at 3, 5 and 8 p.m.

Following the last shows on Friday and Saturday will be an after-party at 11 p.m. at El Rancho Tavern.

Capping off the festival will be the Best of the Fest Showcase. Headlining the show will be comedian Jay Whitecotton, whose comedy has been featured on TV specials and at many festivals. His debut album, “Hi, Lonesome!” reached No. 1 on iTunes.

Festival tickets are $65 for the Strater Festival Pass and $99 for the VIP Festival Pass and may be purchased online at bit.ly/2ZjJcuu.
