Best bets this weekend include Durango Grit Gathering and a Boy Scouts food drive.
The city of Durango will host Durango Grit Gatherings from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays in the closed area between Ninth and 10th streets, from Feb. 19 to March 12.
Attendees are encouraged to pick up takeout from a restaurant and enjoy live music at tables set up in the closed area. QR codes will be placed on tables to provide easy access to menus from restaurants on Main Avenue. Alcoholic drinks will not be permitted in the gathering area.
If inclement weather with precipitation is expected, the gathering will be postponed or canceled. Updates will be posted on city of Durango’s social media channels.
The gatherings are also supported by Local First and the Business Improvement District.
Boy Scouts of America will hold its annual Scouting For Food Drives from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Santa Rita Park and Morehart Murphy Subaru in Three Springs, 450 Wilson Gulch Drive.
Nonperishable food items and monetary donations will be accepted and used to help La Plata County residents struggling with food insecurity.
