Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival will be held Sunday at the Durango Arts Center. The 1 p.m. showing will feature “The Trouble with Wolves.”

Best bets this weekend include the Wild & Scenic Film Festival and Comedy Nights.

The local chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby will host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour at 1 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

Films will address environmental concerns and celebrate the planet. Sponsors include Backcountry Experience, Alpine Bank, Ore House, Durango Nursery, Great Old Broads for Wilderness and Shaw Solar.

The 1 p.m. showing will feature “The Trouble with Wolves” and the 4:30 p.m. showing will feature “Living in the Future’s Past.” Money raised will go toward the Student Mentors Scholarship Program, which sends college students to CCL’s annual conference and Lobby Days in Washington, D.C.

Tickets are $5 to $7 for students and $12 to $15 for general admission. They are available online at www.eventbrite.com and www.durangoccl.org. VIP reserved seating is available for both programs for $50 for two.

Comedy Nights will take place at 9 p.m. Friday at Dolores River Brewery, 100 S. Fourth St., in Dolores.

Four professional stand-up comedians will perform, and there will be an open mic for new or amateur comedians at 7:30 p.m. Headliners include Kate McLachlan, Jill Carlson, Betsy Schur and Derek Ryter, with hosts Brian Nystrom and David Oakley.

The event is organized by Comic Uprising, a club formed by Jill Carlson to showcase local comedians. Sponsors include Matthew Walk-In Haircuts and Kokopelli Cabins.
