Durango High School Troupe 1096, in association with Animas Cinema Productions, will present George Orwell’s “1984” in a virtual format now through April 14.
“1984” tells the story of Winston Smith, a cog in the giant machine state of Oceania. Physically and mentally under the omnipresent eye of Big Brother, Smith has been caught struggling for scraps of love and freedom in a world awash with distrust and violence. With the “help” of four Party Members, Smith is forced to confess his Thoughtcrimes before an unseen inquisitor, and the audience – which acts as a silent witness to his torture.

Durango Lacrosse will host a free clinic from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Smith Sports Complex, 700 Talon Lane.
The clinic is open to all ages and abilities. Various coaches will lead the hour with Durango High School players for drills and scrimmage play. Limited equipment is available for new players.
