Best bets this weekend include Ballet Folklorico’s Cinco de Mayo celebration and Dancing with the Durango Stars.
El Centro de Muchos Colores and Ballet Folklorico de Durango will celebrate Cinco de Mayo from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Leland House and Rochester Hotel outdoor gardens, 726 East Second Ave. The celebration will feature live music, dance performances by members of Ballet Folklorico, family and children’s activities and dance music for all ages.
There will also be opportunities to learn about the history of Cinco de Mayo during the event. In addition to music and dancing, light snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Durango Dancing with the Stars will take place this weekend with two shows at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave. Similar to the popular television show, eight local Durango dance duos will perform during the two performances. The event will raise money for Durango Derailers, which supports travel expenses for families in the Durango area whose children are receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital Colorado and are in need of funds to accommodate travel to and from treatment.
