Best bets this weekend include Meltdown on the Mesa and the 5K Splash and Dash.
Durango Mesa Park will host the fifth annual Meltdown on the Mesa from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the park, 1661 Ewing Mesa Road.
The Meltdown will feature live music and camping. Participants may bring camp chairs, tarps, instruments, tents and food for a day of bluegrass performances. Bands include Liver Down the River, The Badly Bent, Woodland Remedy, Smelter Mountain Boys, Crooked Measures and Six Dollar String band.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate and include camping. Kids 12 and younger can attend for free.

La Plata Youth Services will sponsor the fifth annual 5K Splash and Dash from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the youth services center, 2490 Main Ave.
Racers can test their endurance on the 5K course featuring waterworks at the finish line. A 1K youth fun course (strider bikes welcome) will also be available. Games, a barbecue and music will take place after the races.
Registration fees are $10 for children 5 to 12, $20 for those 13 and older and $50 for Sleepwalkers and teams of five.
Race day registration and check-in will begin at 9 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m.
