Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include Summer Brew and the Vallecito Community Summer Party.

Purgatory Resort and Liquor World will host the family-friendly Summer Brew festival from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Purgatory Resort beach area.

The festival will feature 25 summer beers for tasting from a variety of Colorado breweries, including Steamworks, Ska Brewing, Carver Brewing, Animas Brewing, Mancos Brewing, Fenceline Cider and more. While tasting the summer beers, participants will be able to relax on the lawn and listen to live music from the band State 38.

Tickets are $25 at the door and admission includes a commemorative tasting glass and unlimited samples of all beers. Kids are welcome and admitted free.

The Vallecito Community Summer Party will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Community Event Center, 17252 County Road 501.

The family-friendly party will feature live music from The Garrett Young Collective on the lakeshore at the north end of Vallecito Reservoir. The event will also offer a barbecue, beer and wine, and a showcase featuring local businesses. There will also be a raffle for a Yeti cooler and a silent auction. Kids can enjoy a bounce house, games and other activities.

Admission to the party is $15 and $10 for kids 12 and younger. Adult admission includes two drink tickets. Additional drink tickets are available for $5 for two tickets.
