Best bets this weekend include the Independent Ski and Board Film Festival and the pre-party for the Live as One: One Vibration Music Festival.
The Independent Ski and Board Film Festival, hosted by the Fort Lewis College Independent, will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio.
The festival will premier a collection of local skiers’ and snowboarders’ best wipeouts, tricks and film edits. Winners will be announced in each category and will be awarded prizes donated by Durango Outdoor Exchange.
The event is open to the community. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Drinks and pizza will be available for purchase (cash only).

One Vibration 2019, a two-day music festival, won’t kick off until mid-May, but the Live as One pre-party will give music lovers their first preview of the upcoming festival from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive. Unify Mountain Soundz sponsors the festival, and the pre-party concert will be presented on its Green Dragon Hennessey Sound Design System.
Musical guests will include Colorado-based bands Homemade Spaceship, Spectacle, Melody Lines and Krunkle Tom. Attendees can also enter a raffle to win tickets to the full festival in May.
