Best bets this weekend include the Heart to Heart Masquerade Party and the Durango Voice Finals.
The Heart to Heart Masquerade Party will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, 479 Main Ave. The party is sponsored by La Plata Family Centers Coalition and will celebrate 35 years of supporting local families in need.
The party will feature live music by The Afrobeatniks, a band that draws its inspiration from the popular, folkloric and spiritual music of Africa. Party-goers will also be able to enjoy food and a cash bar. A photo booth, prizes and activities for children will be available, too. Guests are invited to dress up in costumes and masks.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children. Kids 5 and younger can attend for free. Tickets may be purchased at Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave., or online at www.lpfcc.org.
The Durango Voice Finals will not only highlight talented local singers, it will also raise funds for Manna. The 12 finalists will compete at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Strater Theatre, after receiving professional voice coaching from the judges who selected them in the first round.
Three winners will be selected at the end of the night. Each winner will receive gift certificates and prizes, as well as future singing engagements around Durango. Proceeds from the show will benefit Manna and its mission to provide nourishing meals and supportive services to members of the community who are in need.
Tickets are $36 and can be purchased online at https://bit.ly/2I0MOcx.
