The Durango Herald’s Best of Durango & La Plata County kicked off Friday. The annual competition will award first place, runner up and honorable mentions to local businesses and leaders in 126 categories. New this year is the category of best educator.
The competition began Friday and nominations will be accepted through July 26. At that point in time, the three businesses with the most nominations and the top three businesses from last year will move forward to the voting round. Voting will take place from Aug. 5 to 22. The Best of Durango and La Plata County magazine will be inserted into the Sept. 27 newspaper.
