There are many facts people need to know about Bayfield Ordinance 417, which will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
1. Only registered voters in the Bayfield Town District will receive a mail-in ballot.
2. The majority of the population in our community - who live outside town limits - has no say in the future of our town. This includes businesses, school district employees, health car providers, Upper Pine Fire employees, and families who support this town and community. We aren't just a town, we're a community!
3. Your no vote mailed back will keep our family-oriented town and community from becoming another Durango.
4. The Bayfield Town Board can't guarantee what marijuana products will be sold in a retail outlet. Medical marijuana is not sold in a separate building.
5. You can't place a dollar value on a destroyed human life, or the devastation to a family who has to care for a loved one who has become addicted to this federally illegal drug. THC is the psychoactive drug in marijuana; it is processed into many products. Pets have had to be treated for eating discarded marijuana products.
Once opened, you can't shut Pandora's Box!
We are concerned community citizens, and we urge you to vote no and return your ballot by Nov. 6.
