BHS baseball is IML perfect

The Bayfield Wolverines haven’t trailed often this season.

Saturday, it wasn’t for long.

The Bayfield High School baseball team, ranked No. 2 in 3A by The Denver Post, trailed Centauri 1-0 after the first inning of the second game in an Intermountain League doubleheader Saturday in La Jara, then rallied for a 9-4 victory to finish a sweep.

BHS won Game 1 11-0 to finish the regular season 8-0 in the IML and 17-2 overall.

Clay Miller struck out 14 to earn the win in Game 1.

Darren Hoselton earned the win in Game 2.

Kelton McCoy was 4-for-8, reached on an error, doubled thrice and drove in seven runs in the doubleheader. Zane Phelps was 5-for-6, including a double and two home runs.

The Wolverines will find out their playoff seeding Wednesday.
