BHS boys basketball loses 3rd in a row

An undefeated league start quickly has turned sour for the Bayfield High School boys basketball team.

The Wolverines lost 58-42 on Friday at Monte Vista to drop below .500 in Intermountain League play.

Zane Phelps led BHS with 16 points, Dillon Hoselton joined him in double figures with 13 and Brody McGhehey added five five.

Monte Vista (11-4, 3-2 IML) won its fourth consecutive game, while BHS (8-7, 2-3 IML) hasn’t won in regulation since beating Pagosa Springs in quadruple-overtime Jan. 24.

The Wolverines did beat Navajo Prep of Farmington via forfeit Monday.

BHS next will play at CHSAANow.com’s Class 2A No. 1 Ignacio at 7 p.m. Tuesday at IHS.
