At the Bayfield Cross Country Invitational Saturday, area teams had impressive showings, as the Durango High School girls team won with 20 points and had four out of the top-five finishers, while the Bayfield boys squad finished second of five teams.
Elco Garcia raced to second place overall for Bayfield with an impressive time of 19:31.48. Phillip Hufman of Dolores won with a time of 19:19.17.
The Wolverine girls finished in last place with 137 points. In a race where the Demons did not bring its top runners, it was still an impressive performance with Tea Forrest winning the race in 23 minutes, 18.31 seconds, while Breanna Wolf was not far behind in third-place with a time of 23:51.42.
Olivia Keitz was the top finisher for the Bayfield girls with a time of 27:29.33 for 33rd place.
