The Southwest Sunset Cross Country Classic will host its second annual night event on Friday at Hillcrest Golf Course in Durango.
Co-hosted by the Bayfield and Durango cross country teams, the meet also has a community 5K at 8 p.m. The fairways are lit for the event, and runners wear headlamps, glowlights and about anything else that glows in the dark.
The event starts at 6 p.m. with middle school girls on a 3K course, followed by the mid school boys at 6:30 p.m.
JV girls start their 5K course at 7 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30. The Community 5K is at 8 p.m, followed by varsity girls at 8:30 and varsity boys at 9 p.m.
The Community 5K race is open to all, and is being held as a fundraiser for both schools. Entry fee Friday is $30. Parking for the event is at Fort Lewis College.
