BHS musicians perform in FLC Honor Band

Two six-hour rehearsals and lots of practice time went into the Fort Lewis College Honor Band performance on Feb. 3.

Twelve Bayfield High School musicians performed in the honor band, which is divided into the Skyhawk, Blue and Gold groups. Students who performed in the Skyhawk band are Collin Jackson on clarinet; Dylan Hunt, trumpet; and Jarod Lane, tuba.

Performing in the Blue band were Walker Thayer, trumpet; Skylar Canode-Rhodes, percussion; Amber Stephenson, clarinet; Jacob Gullion, flute; and Kathryn Tobias, trombone.

Named to the Gold band were Jack Ferguson, trombone; Summer Hollingsworth and Austin Curtsinger, French horn; and Reed Merchant, euphonium.

Randall Standridge, who composed Every Winter's Breath in memory of Maddie Milner, was one of the guest conductors on Saturday.

The BHS musicians did an incredible job both preparing for and at the actual performance, said Derek Smith, music director at the school.
