BHS Soccer shuts out Center, 2-0

On an unusual day when they weren't even as much as a 'Receiving Votes' side in the CHSAANow.com Class 3A Girls' Soccer Rankings, Bayfield made their move towards again cracking that exclusive list with a 2-0 win Monday at home over Center.

Head coach Jen Zelinski reported sophomore Maddy Duran and senior Jaida Ross found the back of the Lady Vikings' net, boosting BHS up to 6-1 in the 3A Southwestern, 7-3 overall, and completing a successful recovery from a rough 4-nil loss inside Wolverine Country Stadium to Alamosa last Thursday.

The league's front-running squads have each defeated the other once, but Hawken Hanna's Mean Moose are now a sturdy plus-3 in head-to-head goal differential.

In hopes of keeping the pressure on AHS, the Lady Wolverines will head out this weekend for key dates at Ridgway (3-6, 3-6) this afternoon-a 4 p.m. start-and tomorrow morning (11 a.m.) at Telluride.
