"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
This is a line directly from the play Twelfth Night. This play is a Shakespeare original. Twelfth Night is a comical piece, as opposed to other serious Shakespearean pieces.
"Viola is my character's name," said Savannah Kaufmann, who plays one of the comedy's leading ladies. "She gets in a shipwreck and lands on a land called Illyia. She has to dress as a man in order to survive." Kaufmann said while performing Shakespeare can be difficult, it's also an exciting opportunity for the cast and crew.
"It is so much fun working on set and with all the interesting characters," she added.
Opening night will be on Friday, Nov. 9. The play will continue through Nov. 10, then next week on Nov. 16 and 17. Performances are at 7 p.m. at the Bayfield Performing Arts Center.
"Directing the play is a very stressful experience, but as most play directors say, the show must go on," said Sarah Ripley, the show's director.
For adults, the tickets cost $6, and students $4. All the profits will go to the theater.
Hopefully the community comes out and supports the theater department!
