Wolverines drop a ‘lethargic’ dual against Mean Moose
The last competition before regionals didn’t go as planned for the Bayfield High School wrestling team.
The Wolverines lost 57-16 at Alamosa in an Intermountain League dual.
Cody Speece was pinned at 113 pounds, Ryan Nava pinned his opponent at 120 pounds, Taylor Winch received a forfeit at 126 pounds, Cash Snooks was pinned at 132 pounds and Colter McMenimen won a major decision at 138 pounds.
Alamosa won six forfeits.
“We didn’t show up ready to wrestle (Thursday),” BHS head coach Todd McMenimen said. “We were very lethargic through all the matches.”
The Wolverines next will compete at regionals Thursday in Colorado Springs.
“I think we might be able to use it as a wakeup call,” McMenimen said.
