BHS track and field parents appreciate support for team

On behalf of all of the parents of the Bayfield High School track and field team, we would like to thank our many supporters for helping our kids during their successful season.

First, our head coaches, Gary Heide and Josh Walton, and their assistant coaches, Melissa Kaufmann, Chip Holdmair, Luke and Nancy Harrington, Suzette Baker, and our trainer, Brandi Wenzlau, did another great job this year coaching and working with our athletes.

To the dozens of volunteers who helped at the Pine River Invitational, our home track meet, thank you so much! We also appreciate everyone who donated to our team's online fundraiser at the start of the season.

We hosted cookies and milk for the team members after practice this year. Thanks to all of our cookie bakers, Snooks Concrete for purchasing the milk, and Mini Merc for donating cups.

Half-Price Tees and Embroidery in Durango did an awesome job turning around our state qualifier T-shirts in only a few days so our kids had them in time to leave for Denver.

Coca-Cola of Durango donated Powerade and water to Bayfield High School this year, and we sincerely appreciate having those drinks for our events.

Thanks also to anyone who came to the meets, supported our kids, and gave them a high five around town!

While our athletes didn't do as well at state this year as they had hoped, we had a successful year, and congratulations to our athletes for sweeping the InterMountain League honors! Way to go Amber Johnson, Jordan Lanning, Carl Heide and Sam Westbrook! Also, congratulations to this year's IML track coaches of the year, Coach Heide and Coach Walton!
