The outdoor track-and-field season was done.when?
Perhaps Colorado's calendar said so, but a couple Lady Wolverines just kept on working into June.
Testing their respective skill sets against many of the nation's best at the 39th annual Great Southwest Track & Field Classic, held June 5-7 inside University of New Mexico T&F Stadium, were Bayfield now-seniors Jessica Cusick and Jessie Roukema.
Running the 800 meters, Cusick recorded a 2:37.69 and finished 28th overall. In 27th at 2:35.71 was 5A Fruita Monument now-senior Taylor Valentine, but the two were well off the winning pace.
Taking first, in a new meet-record 2:09.83, was now-graduated Ogden, Utah [UHSAA 4A], senior Sarah Feeny.
Also seeing action in Albuquerque, Roukema competed in the girls' high jump and finished tied with five others for 13th place with a best clearance of five feet even.
