This year’s winners for Durango businesses with the best holiday decorating were announced Friday, a contest sponsored by the
“The lights and decorations throughout Durango are always great,” said Tim Walsworth, BID executive director, in a prepared statement. “The secret judges had a difficult time limiting the winners. Holiday lights and decorations truly enhance the shopping and entertainment experience in Durango during this time of year.”
Winning businesses were divided into three parts of town.
At Main Avenue and cross streets, Blu Boutique, Dolce, Fuzziwigs Candy Factory, Main Mall and Urban Market were awarded the designation.
At East Second Avenue, Mutu’s Italian Kitchen and Rochester Hotel won.
And on North Main Avenue, Earth Girl Goodies, Quality Inn and Smart Enterprises won.
The BID awards a $50 gift card to a business within the district to each winner.
According to a news release, the competition is part of the “Wondrous Winter” marketing program, a three-month endeavor to draw locals and visitors to Durango shops, restaurants and other entertainment.
“Instead of focusing promotional efforts on just one or two events during the holidays, we are able to help spread the word about all the activities taking place,” Walsworth said in the statement.
